In this article, we'll take you step-by-step through how Kehio Editor works with your theme.

ℹ️ Important note: The Kehio Editor application works by integrating blocks into your pages. This is why our application is only compatible with new versions of Shopify themes, Online Store 2.0.

What's the difference between your theme and Kehio Editor ?

A Shopify theme is the set of code that shapes the appearance of your website. With the theme editor, you can adjust various specific parameters to customize your store. Although you have the option of integrating blocks, sections or even application blocks on your pages, you will encounter mandatory limitations in the optimization and design of certain section types, and you will need to modify the theme code to make these changes.

Kehio Editor, combined with Shopify Online Store 2.0, takes the customization of your store to the next level. It lets you add blocks and sections without touching your theme's code, offering stability and flexibility to customize your site's content. More than just an editor, Kehio Editor lets you create customized, optimized sections and blocks, overcoming the limitations Shopify imposes on your theme. It offers you infinite possibilities in terms of content design and layout, SEO optimization and greatly enhances your store's user experience, on over all screen resolutions.

In brief, your Shopify theme provides the framework and basic structures for your store design, Kehio Editor gives you the tools to push that design beyond the limits imposed by it, enriching your site with 100% optimizable custom elements that captivate and convert.

How does Kehio Editor work with your theme ?

Kehio Editor works as a complement to a Shopify theme; it doesn't replace your theme, but enhances it by allowing you to create unique, optimized sections. However, it's important to note that the header, footer and navigation bar, the add to cart button and all steps after adding to cart remain managed by your Shopify theme.

What Kehio Editor lets you do is create blocks that you can then integrate into the pages of your choice to enhance the look and functionality of your store.

Adding sections with Kehio Editor

With Kehio Editor, you can also customize your store's product block, making your presentation even more elegant. You can integrate accordions, icons and dividers, visually enriching the product block. This allows your visitors to access key product information in an organized and attractive way. By customizing in this way, you create a product block that incorporates all the marketing you need to showcase your products effectively.

Safe integration

Kehio Editor integrates with your Shopify theme and works like adding blocks from within your theme editor. This lets you easily add sections and blocks with a few clicks, or hide them to run optimization tests or prepare your designs for special occasions. Thanks to the new Shopify Online Store 2.0 template, you can add application blocks without affecting your theme code. So using Kehio Editor to add sections is risk-free for your store's stability and your current designs.

What happens if I change my theme ?

When you change themes, all your creations are kept in the application, ensuring that your work is never lost. However, as each theme offers different sections, Shopify will ask you to create new page templates for your new theme. This means you'll need to reconnect each of your creations with the new theme.

Fortunately, this work can be done in advance, even before you publish your new theme. We recommend that you prepare all your templates and connect your creations to each section from the theme library, while the theme is not yet active. Once you've completed your preparation, simply publish your new theme and then connect your page templates to your products. This approach minimizes interruptions and ensures a smooth transition to your new theme.

ℹ️ Important notice : By default, the Kehio Editor app uses the font of your active theme in our editor. Therefore, if you choose a new font in your unpublished theme, it won't be displayed immediately in the app. However, it will be taken into account, and you can check it from the editor of your non-active theme.

If you encounter any difficulties when designing or modifying your creation, please do not hesitate to contact our team by e-mail or via live chat.
